New Medical Director Named
Dr Ann Treisman has joined the Lake Fork Health Service District as the new Medical Director replacing Dr Bill Gattis.
Ann earned her MD at University of Colorado School of Medicine in 2017. She spent time at the Lake City clinic in 2014 as a medical student, interned at St Joseph Hospital in Denver 2017-18, and served her residency at Peak Vista Family Medicine in Colorado Springs 2019-22. She has been practicing at Gunnison Valley Hospital and Montrose Regional Health since then. More details in the linked press release.

November 2023 - Annual Update Letter
The update included details of grants to the medical center and EMS totaling $36,394 in 2023. These included pediatric care support tools, otoscope replacements, apartment furnishings refresh, security camera system, and strategic planning work.
We also expressed our appreciation to Dr Bill Gattis for his service as Medical Director. Bill is leaving to return to practice in Gunnison. Also, Jerry Johnson has left the Board after many years of great service and is replaced with Jordan Kaminski. Read more details here.

May 2021 - McKinneys Recognized for Exceptional Service and Support
The LCMC Endowment Fund, Inc. presented Jim McKinney a plaque recognizing him and his late wife Fran on May 15 for their exceptional and continued support of healthcare organizations in Lake City.
Jim and Fran made their home in Lake City for many years and Jim now resides in Conroe, Texas. Jim served on Endowment Fund and Health District boards from 2012 to 2017. Fran and Jim were heavily engaged on several committees supporting these organizations during that period. Jim continues to make a substantial impact supporting healthcare delivery in Lake City through financial contributions to the Endowment Fund.

September 2020 - New Medical and Dental Directors Join Health District Staff
New Medical Director – In September, Dr. William Gattis joined the Health District as our new Medical Director. Dr. Gattis is experienced in family medicine having owned a practice for five years. Most recently he has served as emergency room physician at Gunnison Valley Hospital for eight years. Gattis replaces Dr. Gina Carr, who moved to Grand Junction due to family matters.
New Dental Director – Dr. Brett Bergseid of Denver has joined the Health District as our new Dental Director. Dr. Bergseid plans to be onsite five days per month providing dental care to the community. Bergseid replaces highly-regarded Dr. Bruce Uchida, who elected to retire (again).

April 2020 - El Pomar and NextFifty Initiative Award COVID-19 Grants
The El Pomar Foundation ($2,500) and the NextFifty Initiative ($12,000) awarded grants from their COVID-19 Colorado assistance funds in March and April, respectively. The much needed funds are for general operating support and were immediately passed through to the Health District, Public Health, and EMS. See more details in the press release here.

Newly-hired Hinsdale County EMS Director Buffy Witt was added to the Endowment Board of Directors at the regular quarterly meeting January 31. Witt fills the position representing EMS vacated by retired member Jerry Gray. Board officers were elected with Lyn Lampert filling the Vice-President position vacated by retiring Director Emerita Nancy Zeller. Bernie Krystyniak remained as President and Treasurer and Linda Downs as Secretary.

August 2019 - Endowment Awards Grants to Clinic and Public Health
The Endowment Board awarded $6,495 to the Health District for support of the new electronic medical records (EMR) system and $8,847 to Public Health for the school nurse program. This brings the total award for 2019 to $22,352. See more details in the press release here.

The Endowment Board grants awarded in 2019 thru June totals $7,010. The latest award is for replacement of the suction device in the trauma area. Grants awarded previously in 2019 included funds for medical billing training, a new shredder, and a new lab chair.
Jerry Johnson, local businessman and owner of Climb Elevated Eatery, was added to the Board filling the vacancy left by the late Scott Beedy. Jerry is also a member of the LFHSD Board and represents them. See press release here.

The Endowment shared it's annual end-of-year letter update to hundreds of loyal donors and supporters by social media and mail. Included as highlights are
- Recent staff changes - Additions of Medical Director Dr. Gina Carr and Physician Assistant Ashley Mines. PA Bob Downs continues as our 3rd provider and has been greatly valued during the transition.
- Where the money went - During 2018 we expanded our grant program scope to include Health District employees for professional development, continuing education, and capability extension. Five employees received grant awards during the year. A grant was also awarded to replace the conference center tables.
- Who's watching the money - We added Directors Jerry Gray (EMS) and Lyn Lampert (Silver Thread Public Health). They join our other directors - Scott Beedy, LInda Downs, Bernie Krystyniak, Cindy Lycholat, Malinda McDonald, Fred Stapleton, and Nancy Zeller.
